Z Clone

Post by Apex » 2007-11-27, 17:40

Hi,

I've been reading the posts about the painful wait to see if there will be a Z sequel. Perhaps members of the community could start working on their own clones ?

It seems the Bitmaps are immersed deep in speedBall2 (It doesn't even seem like they are doing any of the coding either) and don't seem to have time for Z right now :(

I guess I'm saying that waiting on them might be futile.
By the way, do any of them stop by to say hello on this board?

Hello, and welcome to the forums!

There are members working on several clones:
-X-Strategy: a flash-based Z clone in the general spirit of Z but with more cartoonish features. The only project of which we know for certain it is still standing. It is currently in development by the member of the same name and a professional team. There have been many content updates about this project, but all of them have been removed due to legal issues.
-Next-gen Z: a faithful remake of Z by Electro; this project was well on its way with frequent content updates, and suddenly went completely silent. We have no idea of its curent status.
-Polska-Fighter's remake: we haven't heard of this project for a comsiderable amount of time.

In addition, the former Bitmap Brothers promised to work on an XP-based version of Z, as well as a full sequel. Despite numerous attemps made by Zod, we haven't heard a single thing from them since that.

-X-Strategy: a flash-based Z clone
The only note, it will be 3d game on directx10, not a flash-based clone.

oh, i noticed, i joined this great forum exactly 2 years ago ("Joined: 26 Nov 2005") :) 2 years passed but still a lot to do with our project!

Cheers!

No Sorry. The game will have another title, so I removed my old site.
But the development never stops and very active now!

Hmmm, good for you, you get to keep the eye candy! :D

Just to be sure though : you can't of course post the images back on the forum, or I'll have to remove them.

This scares me a bit, DX10?
Are you really sure you want to do this?

There are still DX9 cards that will last quite some time from now and still perform well.
I know that it's very interresting to work on a DX10 game with all new cool features, but is there a chance for non DX10 "cardusers" to run the game (propperly) ?

If not I hope you use DX10 to the fullest ;)

I guess it wont be released in the next half year, so DX10 could be much more common in the future. But as I see it atm Vista is the greatest problem for DX10 ;)

...see all news about the selling-numbers of Vista and how many people use it these days after it is over a year in the market. I guess it wont get that much spread as WinXP.

Yes, when the game is ready everybody will use Vista and DX10 like nowadays everybody use XP and DX9.
So dont worry about it.
The team is working hard on the game.
