Z3 aka WW2: Frontline Command - a heretical question?

Post by plib » 2011-12-31, 02:02

Hi,

Why is there no section here for WW2: Frontline Command. The game is a clear successor to Z: Steel Soldiers, if disguised as a WW2 game... A lot of the basics that made Z and Steel Soldiers great are still there and sometimes, when you win a level, before exiting the level to start the next one, the game shows the level you just won with red and blue level areas (Q.E.D.)...

Hi plib,
there surely are many similarities in gameplay, interaction and sounds. But what mostly removes the "Z-factor" for me is that the story is placed in WWII, a historical event, simulating real people and equipment. The whole concept of our cute robots in a fantasy space world providing humor and also distance to real combat situations is a crucial Z-thing that WW2 does not have.
The game is also not published by the Bitmaps and does not reference the Commander Zod title.
It's absolutely ok to mention it here but it does not deserve an own section in the ZZone.
Best regards,
Zod
