Problem with LAN

Post by The_Drummer » 2008-03-15, 16:24

Hi,
I'm having problems running Z95 over LAN, with another machine.
I have got vanilla Z working over LAN with both machines (using Hamachi), but it does't seem to want to work.
Pinging still works, so what's the answer?
I'm looking forward to play Z95 LAN!
Thanks.

EDIT: I've tried using Hamachi, but when I go to Z95 -> Multiplayer, there isn't an option for IPX. And doesn't Hamachi work using IPX? Also, is there a topic explaining how to use Hamachi for Z95, instead of DOSBox Z?
Thanks.
I'm afraid the server z game 2 is full. However, I have set up two more:-

For Z95 players ONLY!!!, use:
Name: Z95!
Password: Tom
For DOSBox-Z players ONLY!!!, use:
Name: DOSBox-Z!
Password: Tom
Have fun!

First off, pinging is in fact an extremely terrible indication of whether Hamachi works or not. It can work and ping or not, and it can fail and ping or not.

Second, I don't know how, but I most definitely have an IPX option under "Multiplayer". :s Are you sure you've not overlooked it or something?

On one computer, the option is there. On the other, no option. Maybe Hamachi has to be on the computer for it to show up? 'Cause the compuyer with Hamachi has the option, but the one without doesn't have Hamachi.
Does TCP/IP work?

Oh well. I'll keep experimenting. I'll try a third computer to see how it goes. Hamachi etc. ^^

For a TCP-IP game, you need to obtain the IP address of you mate's computer and he yours. You can enter this address when asked to provide it; you should then see each other and you can start a game.

Sorry, I forgot to mention: the 'Z95!' and the 'Dosbox-Z!' is for Hamachi...
