Troubles with Steel Soldiers Gameplay

Post by Cheesedog1 » 2006-04-23, 00:15

I have steel soldiers patched to 1.42b and for some reason I cannot use mines or grenades in the game. Is anyone else having this problem or know a way to fix it???

First, make sure that you extracted the patch in your Z Steel Soldiers directory. Its a root patch and it will not auto install. Using the explosive expert is a little tricky. The manual offers no explanation. It originally took me a while to figure it out. You have to right click on the Explosives expert and select the weapon that you wish to use. There are 3, grenades, mines, and explosives. By default he will lobb grenades at the enemy. To lay mines, you have to right click on unit. Select mines, and then control + left click on the ground where you wish to place each mine. I believe he carries 4, when he runs out he can be replenished at the robot factory.
Come and play on Gamespy sometime! This game has great multiplayer capabilities. I'm currently taking on teams of 3 players vs me. [I'm an expert] Great Fun!

CTRL+left click?!? Nice of them to mention that in the manual. I have been trying standard left click. Have to try that out when I get home this evening!

Thanks a lot! Worked like a charm. A little strange that an extra step like that is required but what the hey! A whole new aspect of the game has now opened up. looking forward to beating the game this time!
