Z Expansion and Multiplayer over the internet

Postby PKRanger » 2007-05-28, 14:17

As first, great to be in this community !

Now the main problem for me, im behind a router so im not able to host any games without knowing the used netports (ports)

Does anyone know witch ports i have to open to be able to host?
Thanks in advance.

The easiest way to play Z95 in multiplayer is still via hamachi. You and your opponent must just be connected to a hamachi server. Then e.g. you start a game and the other guy connects to you hamachi ip.

Doing this without hamachi is also possible, but it is very complicated. Maybe somebody knows a networ specialist who can explain how it works with TCP/IP, routers, etc..

Well I always play via TCP/IP with a friend of mine. You just check your IP number by visiting this site, host a game, and your friend just enters that number when prompted to do so. He'll then find your game, and you can choose which level to play etc. Easy peasy, japanesey. I've got a router too, so that shouldn't give you any problems.

Luck! It isn't always that easy. Maybe I must do something with this "Static Route" Thing, don't know

I've opened the game executable with coldice (assembler) seems the ports are randomly generated but still out of an unknown range.. couldnt find it.

Routing didnt worked, i've got a cisco router (cheap router i brought for 350 euro's) it hasnt an out of N.A.T function.

I am working in the IT, so tell me what do you meen with hamachi.
Loopback?

For CHYROS :

Im behind a router, i know what IP im using.
The problem is the unknown ports are blocked duo to my company safety.
Unless i know the ports, i wont be host the game.

Offtopic : is anyone able to host and feeling free to play a few matches?

How do I install this Expansion I hear so much about? I hope it's not the 98 patch thing because I get an error every time I try to use it.

I got the patch and the game runs great but me and my friends keep getting sync errors when trying to play TCP IP. as well IPX network games aren't showing up over Hamachi. Anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

I never had a change to play in multiplayer mode so hardly can be of much help here. I heard complaintes on fatal sync error before, but in my opinion the main reason for this is faulty implementation of TCP/IP support.

Haven't you missed IPX-protocol installation?

The link you provided looks like it has some useful in information that might work we are going to try later on tonight. It does seem strange, we play other games like warcraft2 and Z in DOSbox over IPX and even newer games like UT2004. Thanks for the information. I hope this gets running soon so I might be able to play with some people form the community.
