Ok, here is my small utility for fine-tuning the game ;)

Meaning of some fields still remain unclear, they are designated as "Offset ##"
I had not enough time to play with it, so please share with community your discoveries you happen to make.

The file consists of 3 connected blocks: BLOCK2 -> BLOCK1 -> BLOCK3.
To edit a unit follow this scheme:
1) Locate unit in BLOCK2 by name, take a note of "BLOCK1 RowId" field. Here you can change number of robots in the group, for example make Phycos consisting of 5 units.
2) In BLOCK1 navigate to RowId you've learned in the previous step. Take a note of "BLOCK3 RowId" field. Here presumablly located defense parameters one of which "robot agility", which changes unit movement speed and evading skills.
3) In BLOCK3 navigate to RowId specified in "BLOCK3 RowId" field. This block contains offense parameters mainly for hardware.

Ok, at last mystery of ROBOTS.DAT file completely revealed! I looked into DOS-version executable and found missing bits of information.

FreakNigh, does the Zod Engine use exactly the same file format for robots.exp and levelsXX.dat as the original game?

nope it uses default_settings.txt and .map files. I have a program that can convert z maps to zod maps though.
