Another Z style game

Post by goblin » 2009-04-08, 03:52

Hi guys,

I am working on a game heavily influenced by "Z".
I am currently using XNA.
I am a web app developer (no game coding experience) , so progress is slow.

I was hoping some of the game content already designed and made, for now canceled projects, might be made available.

I am most interested in the objects created in the zmods-nextgenZ forums.

The cute tanks especially.

So if possible can I get a copy of the 3d objects.

I agree that artwork is the most important phase of game development. So If your remake would also be 2D game I suggest you to use sprites stripped out of Z. XNA platform imho is a good choice and If you lack books on it I could share with you some.
By the way, are you planning to start your project as open source?
WinZMod - mod for playing Z with high screen resolution
ZEdMod - ZEditor mod allowing to edit single player levels
ZGFX - Utility for extracting Z graphic
ZStats - Small utility for fine-tuning unit statistics
Z-Remake - XNA project on 2D IceCream Engine

I have been working with 2d code. I am currently watching and working with a few 3d tutorials, to try work out how much more work that would be to implement.
There is an open source engine "Moongate" that I want to investigate as an option.

If you do have some good books to share would be appreciated. Ebooks?

I have not thought about open source at this early stage.

I was not familiar with RTS-engine you mentioned. Yeah, it looks pretty good! :)
Check out your PM I've send you some links to e-books.

Nothing to show yet.

Using placeholder graphics and such.

Still in very early development.

Friends who were interested in working on this project with me, are yet to contribute.

*sigh*
