News : Zed copyright and source code solded !!

Post by Eastwind » 2007-04-18, 20:28

I read from a french abandonware / retro gaming review that Zed ( and Zed 95 i suppose too ) copyright was selled to another company by Bitmap Brothers (including several other games from Bitmap brothers : Speedball 2, Magic Pockets ,The Chaos Engine ,Gods ) to society ?Crawfish Entertainment' .

that s a answer of the question on main zzone :

" Since then I did not hear anything else. I guess it is time to face the possibility that the Bro's couldn't get the project back together and that for some reason they weren't even able to spill the truth towards us.

I will of course continue to contact them and hope... "

Now we lost hope to get open sourced :|

sorry it s this page :

http://www.abandonware-france.org/ltf_a ... r=6&page=3

in the main page of zzone it also told that mike mongomery chat with our webmaster and told : " (...) George Sorry not to get back to you but we have been busy & holidays. Here's an update. We have been stuck with the code as it looks like we lost a few source files "

If the file was lost , how can it be selled to another company ?

In my opinion this is not more than an assumption... the statement on the abandonware page relates to the release of BB-named-games for the PC Pocket and GBA in 2002/2003 (including Speedball 2) by Crawfish Entertainment. If it was true the BBs couldn't have given the rights to create a Speedball 2 and Chaos engine sequel to Frogster in 2006 (http://www.frogster-ip.de/read_pdf.php? ... nounce.pdf)

Actually this is good, I would fear bitmap brothers sueing us for using their assets long before this other company would.
